Isn’t saying the nature of the ego is illusory & there are no separate people a denial of human life?

I have never denied human life or the existence of the world.  I only deny that separation and otherness exists (outside of thought and the mind).  The nature of the ego is illusory; the ego is a creation of thought and memory that is believed.  It is an ongoing story we tell ourselves.  This does not deny human life.  Human life is not confirmed or denied by the ego.  Egoically we would like to think so.  From an egoic point of view, there is no human life without a “me”. Is awakening a way to avoid reincarnation? Liberation from the wheel of birth & death?

Who knows?  There is no way to tell what will happen after we die.  The desire to be and to experience is the root cause of reincarnation (further being and experiencing), so it may be possible that when there is no longer the desire to be or to experience…it will all cease on its own.

I don’t really care either way.  I don’t care if the individual game continues or not.  I don’t care if all sense of being is done at the end of this life and there is no more experience.  I don’t care if some personal “me” continues on into another life and there is more experience. Please explain, “it’s all in the mind.”

The mind is through which we see the world…typically.  Of course, there is what the world looks like when there is no thought…which is something else.  The world, as we see it, is tinted and filtered by the mind.  Mind is just another word for thoughts that arise.  You see what your thoughts allow you to see.  So, it’s all a matter of thought.  Based on our thoughts and beliefs, the world we see is tinted and filtered. Is delusion a thing trained into human minds? Could it be different?

Much of our delusion has been learned from others…some of it activity taught and trained.  That is why it is sometimes referred to as conditioning.  In the whole socialization process, we teach various illusions that then become our delusions.  Some illusions have some practical value (inches, lines of longitude, an hour, etc.)  Some of these delusions keep us in line and give the powers that be the means of controlling the masses.  It maintains social order. Why are we here in the first place? How come there is suffering?

No reason really.  We are here to simply experience…to play is another way to put it.  There is suffering because challenges and antagonists are needed to make a good play (to make it more entertaining and fun).

There is no meaning or purpose to life beyond living it.  Any reasons or purposes given are mental fictions and imaginations we attribute to life.  When there is no thinking, you see no purpose or meaning…it just is as it is. How can the world not exist? I just kicked a rock!

The world is an illusion, but even illusions exist.  I would never say that the world does not exist.  Illusions get a bad rap though.  Some people use the term “illusion” to put down the world.  Illusions are great things.  Movies are illusions.  Virtual reality games are illusions.  Dreams are illusions.  The game of life continues because the illusions are believed.

I don’t like using the terms real and not-real.  Are dreams real?  Many westerners would say no.  To many of the aboriginal people, dreams are real and sometimes more real than the world itself.  So during this post, please don’t add any kind of real versus not-real context to anything said.  Let us keep the topic to existing or not existing…and also illusions. If I am everything, why am I aware of only me?

With this logic, you would not be most of your own body. You are not aware of what the adrenal or pituitary glands are doing right now. You are not aware of what cells in the body are dying and which ones are splitting to form new cells. You are not likely aware of your shins right now…well maybe now that I brought your attention to it. You are not likely aware of the inside of your nose nor your ear lobes. You are not aware of your ear drums. You are not aware of the backs of your knees.  You are not aware of how many white blood cells you have right now or even feel one of them.  I can go on like this…but I won’t.

My point is…not being consciously aware does not mean separation or not being it. Continue reading If I am everything, why am I aware of only me?

Many teach that nothing happens and there is nothing done – do you agree?

I can kind of see how someone could say nothing happens and nothing is done.  When you wake up from a dream in the morning, you realize it was all in your head and nothing really happened and nothing was done (in reference to the “real” world).  Similarly, when you watch a movie in the theater…before and after the movie is just a white screen.  The movie was a play of images, and so you could say nothing really happened and nothing was really done.

But this is an attempt to separate yourself from what is being experienced.  It is a putting down of the experience.  During that movie, you did experience things happening and it may have made you laugh or cry.  During that dream, you may have experienced flying or being chased or whatever.  For the duration of the experience…clearly something is happening and things can be done. How does reincarnation fit with nonduality or doesn’t it?

Reincarnation exists, if I am to believe my own experience.  When I first started the spiritual journey, I joined a weekly meditation group.  One of the things this group got into was past life regression.

My first experience with past life regression showed that I had a knack for reading past lives as I caught images and impressions while others were being regressed.  The two people leading the past life regressions then took me under their wing and taught me how to do it.
