Who knows? There is no way to tell what will happen after we die. The desire to be and to experience is the root cause of reincarnation (further being and experiencing), so it may be possible that when there is no longer the desire to be or to experience…it will all cease on its own.
I don’t really care either way. I don’t care if the individual game continues or not. I don’t care if all sense of being is done at the end of this life and there is no more experience. I don’t care if some personal “me” continues on into another life and there is more experience. Continue reading Is awakening a way to avoid reincarnation? Liberation from the wheel of birth & death?
This is really a nasty question. If I say “yes”, then you will think there is nothing to realize and remain stuck in suffering. If I say “no”, that is not correct and limitations on the Self could be inferred.
You see…it is not as simple as saying “the Self has always been free.” While true, the question is do you feel free? Also, are you free from suffering? If you do not feel free and are not free of suffering, then you are not awake and are not free. However, it is a figment of your imagination. An illusion of the mind. You are hypnotized…and hence asleep…within a prison of your own thoughts. As long as the illusion is attached to and believed…it is a delusion of being trapped and that delusion has effects. Continue reading The Self has always been free. The Self is always awake. Right?
I woke up in November 2005. I simply mean that a happening occurred…a realization. A kind of aha moment when the illusions of the mind are clearly and deeply seen through…in particular this idea of “me”. This is not just a mental realization, but undeniably through the whole being. I sometimes say it hits you to the core or in your bones. Continue reading What does “when I woke up”…exactly mean?
I’ve heard this question different ways and sometimes with additional information. For example, the Self is always Awake, and there is only the Self & the Self has always been free.
Let’s start with the Self is always Awake. The massive fallacy with this concept is that we experience directly that this is not the case. This is not even the case when you are dreaming at night. You are asleep in your bed and a world is created from the mind. You see other people, trees, rocks, etc. It is all from one mind. There is no other. All in the dream is only you. Continue reading Isn’t Enlightenment the realization that there is no such thing as Enlightenment?
It means something specific when I use the term. Spiritual awakening, Enlightenment, Self-Realization, and several other terms are all equal and point to the same happening. They all point to a radical and permanent change of our identification. Basically, we see through the mirage called “ego” and are never fooled by the mirage again.
The ego is this person in the world who has a life, will die, has problems, has accomplishments, has suffering, and has momentary happiness. The world is separate and potentially hostile – at minimum parts of it are unfriendly – towards this personal sense of self…the ego. Many see the ego as the thinker and doer in this world.
